Sometimes I wake up in the morning and my skin feels dull and lifeless, I use these couple of products to give me a pick me up to kick start my skin!
Fresh vegetable pack by Nature Republic, this is magic gel! It's stored in the fridge so when you apply it you get an instant wake up call, the nutrients in the formula give a nourishing and hydrated feel which I absolutely love! Leave on for 10 minutes and then simply rinse off
I keep "Gel" under eye patches in the fridge as well to really open up and get rid of any puffiness under my eyes. These Hydro gel recovery patches from Ulta are excellent to add to the morning wake up routine. With these two products combined you'll feel refreshed in the morning, no matter how much sleep you did or didn't get!
So this week I got my hands on NARS new eye shadow palette "Wanted" this is a collection of 12 eye shadows with both matte and shimmer shades. At first glace I absolutely loved the packaging but I thought it seemed smaller than what I was anticipating. The first time I wore the colors I tried to wear as many as possible and I was absolutely blown away, they have a high color pay off with little to no fall out. I suggest using a dense packing brush to apply the shimmery shades to avoid as much fallout as possible. I love the matte shades for a simpler look but it's so easy to add the shimmer across your lid for a fun look. The eye shadows themselves are creamy and blend easily. I feel like this is a great collection of colors for the cooler holiday season and the shade range allows for many different looks. If you're in the market for a new shadow palette I highly recommend "Wanted", it retails for $60 which is definitely on the pricey side but for a professional brand and which such great color pay off, I can definitely recommend this!
For those of you who don't know Pantone announces a color of the year every year, this is often an influential guideline for fashion, beauty and home design. This year the chosen color is "Ultra Violet" as seen above. So I decided to put together a list my favorite purple toned beauty products. Let me know yours in the comments section!
Color Pop's "Fantasy" Is a high shine, cream-powder pigment, this product is great to use for a smoldering smokey eye look. $5.00
Lime Crime's "Posh" Metallic Velvetine lip stick is definitely a bold look but the metallic shine through-out makes it an extremely wearable lip color. $15
I am totally obsessed with Color Pops "Moon Lit" Supernova eyeshadow! This cosmic looking shadow, is ultra glittery and the application wand is such a cool idea, this can be used as a stand alone product or a topper over a black smoky eye. $7.00
Love him or hate him, Jeffery Star knows color, this Skin Frost in the color "Neffree" gives you an ethereal glow, my favorite thing about this is that you can use it wet or dry and application can be used anywhere on the body. $29.00
Makeup is like food, there comes a time when it goes bad and although you may not have finished the product, health wise you're better off tossing it as to prevent bacteria infections!
Some people are blessed with long eye lashes and others not so much! With so many serums on the market, some being $100 plus I decided to create my own little formula using only three ingredients, my sister tried this and has gotten great results, so why not give it a try? Let me know in the comments if you try this and how it works for you after a few weeks of use.
Vitamin E oil
Aloe Vera Gel
Mix all three in a small jar and apply every night with a disposable mascara wand and then massage into the root of the eyelash
Sometimes life can get the best of us and we wind up feeling overwhelmed and stressed out, here are 3 tips that definitely help me calm down.
I find that 10 minutes of yoga a day can seriously improve my mood as well as make me feel more energetic. I usually browse Youtube for different styles to suit my progress, online free classes are great if you don't have the time or disposable income for classes.
My absolute fav, cannot live without app is called "Relax Melodies" an app that has meditations and sounds that can be completely customized to your needs, I have the paid version but the free version is great to try out. I find that by using certain breathing techniques and through visualization I can calm myself and prepare for a good nights sleep
One of the best purchases I've made was a humidifier along with some essential oils, lavender being my favorite especially at night. Bath and body works has a great selection of aromatherapy items, from stress relief to concentration
In the world of Instagram and you tube we see it all, from weird new ways to apply foundation to actual techniques that look down right tacky, makeup is fun but when do we draw the line? IN 2018!! These are my top picks for makeup trends that need to be left in 2018
1. Layers upon layers upon layers of foundation.
The more foundation you use, the more texture you're adding to your face, this is not a good look, especially if your foundation is too light or too dark! Embrace the natural look
2. Colour correction on places that don't need correction.
I see it all the time, a tutorial of a girl putting green, lavender, orange concealers all over her face and then slapping on foundation over it. The truth is, most of us don't need colour correction as foundations and concealers have them in the formula already, you only need to correct when the problem is very bad.
3.Weird overly dark, overly drawn on brows
Again, embrace your natural shape, theres nothing wrong with filling in your brows but sticking to your natural brow colour and shape is best. Theres no need to over draw and then erase and carve it all away with concealers!
4. The big round highlight on the tip of the nose
The idea of highlighting is to bring forward your best features or to bring attention to specific areas. A light dusting on the tip can look good on certain nose types but for most people this is not an area you want to draw attention to, extreme highlighting in general needs to end but the tip of the nose thing is the worst culprit!
5. Sharp contouring and sharp "baking"
Okay, we've all seen it, people using weird objects to create that harsh contour line and then dragging a sponge dipped in setting powder right underneath that already sharp line. It just looks messy and unblended and gives off a very un natural appearance
6. Over glossed lips
It just looks sticky and drippy! A little goes a long way
So, you've found your go to lashes and you can apply them flawlessly but how do you keep them looking fresh and new after every wear? With these few simple tricks you can ensure you'll always get the most out of every pair.
After removal, gently and carefully take your tweezers and peel off any remaining glue on the lash band, make sure you don't pluck any of the lash hairs off the band. Now that you've removed all the glue on the lash band you want to take a Q tip and some rubbing alcohol and gently roll the Q tip down the lengths of the eyelashes and across the lash band to thoroughly remove any remaining glue and to sanitize. After this simply place the your fresh lashes back onto the rounds of the container to maintain their shape and voila! They'll stay fresh and beautiful for many more applications!
I recently had the pleasure of attending a private film screening of the film The Darkest Hour. Before the screening there was a panel which consisted of the amazing Gary Oldman, makeup artists Kazuhiro Tsuji, David Malinowski and Lucy Sibbick. During the panel they discussed the issues that arose in the prosthetic recreation of Winston Churchill and although Kazuhiro had retired Oldman insisted only he could successfully recreate the makeup prosthetics. Although the makeup was made by Kazuhiro, he did not want the job of being on set and carrying out the application for 48 consecutive days, this is where David and Lucy stepped in, after three makeup tests they finally found the perfect Churchill makeup.
Oldman then went on to talk about how actors taking on such large roles need to completely surrender to the process. " They [make-up artists] are the first people that you meet. If you arrive and you’re a bit grumpy, they can put you in a good mood. Or if you arrive in a good mood they could put you in a bad mood." he then went on to say "I know that at some point they’re going to say, ‘Quiet on the set. And rolling. Action.’ And I’m gonna get my time to do my job. I think it’s very very disrespectful to come in and just fuck around in the chair and not give them their time to do their work" Unfortunately in this industry there are so many actors that simply only care about themselves, hearing someone so highly acclaimed talk about this definitely inspired and encouraged every artist in the audience.
The film itself kept a good pace and was not only historically correct but also interesting, there was great character development and none of the acting felt forced. From an artists perspective the makeup was flawless and absolutely beautiful, it translated well on film and didn't look like a mask at all. I highly recommend checking out this film, which is in theaters now.
